What is In-Woods Expo?
A world-class live, dynamic forestry and logging demo exhibiting the equipment, services, and specialties essential to forest management today and in the near future—demonstrated in an actual forested setting! In-Woods Expo 2011 will be held on a 300-acre forest managed by Weyerhaeuser near Hot Springs Arkansas, May 19-21, 2011.
What is an in-woods forestry and logging demo?
An opportunity to see today’s and tomorrow’s forest machinery at work in real forest conditions from designated safe viewing areas, with opportunities to meet with technicians and other exhibitor personnel and to view the equipment up close between live demonstrations.
What kind of equipment is exhibited?
All the tools, large and small, that make forest management possible in today’s environment. That includes: Skidders * Feller bunchers * Loaders * Cutting heads * Delimbers * Cut-to-length systems * Mobile chippers * Portable sawmills * Stump grinders * Mobile hog fuel processors * Land clearing machines and attachments * Site prep machines and attachments * Biomass processing systems . . . as well as support systems such as communication equipment, portable scales, surveying and forest measurement systems, safety gear, portable hand-held equipment, reforestation equipment, seedlings, and much more.

What’s the educational agenda?
In-Woods Expo 2011 will offer full and varied educational sessions, directed to loggers, foresters, and forest landowners. For logging contractors and their employees, course offerings will be accredited under the Arkansas Timber Producers Association’s ArkProLogger program, and members of the Society of American Foresters will be able to earn CFE credits. Who’s involved?
In-Woods Expo’s co-sponsors and business managers are the Forest Resources Association, based in Rockville, Maryland, and the Arkansas Timber Producers Association, based in Little Rock, Arkansas. They will draw on a full range of national and regional forestry organizations to add to the depth and breadth of In-Woods Expo 2011. Current partners include the Arkansas Forestry Association, the Arkansas Forestry Commission, the Council on Forest Engineering, the American Tree Farm System, the Society of American Foresters, the Forest Landowners Association, as well as Hatton-Brown Publishers.
What is the Forest Resources Association?
The Forest Resources Association represents diverse segments of the wood fiber supply chain, promoting forest products industry members’ ability to compete successfully in the global marketplace. Its mission is to promote the interests of forest products industry members in the economical, efficient, and sustainable use of forest resources to meet the needs of the wood fiber supply chain through private enterprise.
What is the Arkansas Timber Producers Association?
The Arkansas Timber Producers Association is a statewide member organization for professional loggers, affiliates and businesses which serve or supply the logging and timber industry, promoting the economic and conservation contributions of the state’s timber harvesters in policy circles and to the public, while providing skills improvement programs and information to its members.
What’s in it for kids?
The Arkansas Forestry Commission will provide a full program specially directed to Arkansas junior high and high-schoolers in the In-Woods Expo forest on the opening day. There will be a special admissions policy for children 15 years or younger, but they must remain under the supervision of responsible adults while on the Expo site, for safety. For families, the Hot Springs area offers many attractions—restaurants, shops, museums, and much else, including the lakes and trails within Hot Springs National Park.

Driving instructions from all points (including Little Rock airport), and a map, will be provided here.
NOTE: There will be NO PARKING at or adjacent to the In-Woods Expo site. Instead, attendees for the 2011 Expo will meet at the Hot Springs Convention Center, located at 134 Convention Blvd., Hot Springs, AR 71901 each day to sign in. From the Convention Center, shuttles will transport attendees to the In-Woods Expo 2011 site gates each day, running several trips throughout the day.
